CISV Portland is a developing chapter within CISV USA and was founded in 2016 by Julie Rentsch (CISV Ottawa, Canada) and Jill Welter (CISV Philadelphia, USA). Julie and Jill, two lifelong CISVers who treasured their childhood and leadership experiences with CISV, knew that one day they would want their children and community to benefit from the peace education opportunities CISV provides. Learning there was no chapter in the Pacific Northwest, they set about starting one. CISV Portland is participating in its first village program in 2018 in Denver, Colorado USA, and is preparing to host a Step Up in 2020.
