CISV Portland is a the newest full chapter within CISV USA. Our chapter was founded in 2016 by Julie Rentsch (CISV Ottawa, Canada) and Jill Welter (CISV Philadelphia, USA). Julie and Jill, two lifelong CISVers who treasured their childhood and leadership experiences with CISV, knew that one day they would want their children and community to benefit from the peace education opportunities CISV provides. Learning there was no chapter in the Pacific Northwest, they set about starting one. CISV Portland participated in its first village program in 2018 in Denver, Colorado USA. Since then, we have both hosted and sent youth on numerous international and domestic summer programs.
