DESCRIPTION:What is a Mosaic? A CISV Program designed and run in cooperation with a partner organization to further the benefit to the local community.Being part of a Mosaic project is a real-life learning experience that will have a lasting impact and\, if you’re new to CISV\, it’s a great way to get involved! \nOur partner organization for this Mosaic is called Path Home. Formerly known as Portland Homeless Family Solutions\, their mission is to empower families with children to get back into housing and stay there. Part of their work includes the running of a shelter in SE Portland which can house numerous families at one time\, giving them a safe space to land while they work to get back into permanent housing. \nJoin our Junior Branch (JB) as they learn about homelessness in Portland and cook dinner for the Path Home shelter families! This event is open to kids ages 9+

SUMMARY:CISV Portland JB Super Fun Day/Program Application Event
DESCRIPTION:All CISV Portland chapter youth aged 9+ are invited to join us for our CISV Portland JB Super Fun Day/Program Application Event. This event is MANDATORY for all youth and families applying for summer 2023 international programs\, and optional but encouraged for siblings\, CISV curious friends\, and all CISV Portland Junior Branch (JB) members. \nAt this event\, youth will experience the kinds of activities they may do in a CISV camp setting\, and we hold brief interviews with the parents and child (separately) applying for programs. This is the final step in the application process to make sure that the child wants to go\, the parents understand the structure of the camp preparation process and volunteer requirements of CISV\, and that we (the chapter) think the child will do well at the program. Your child needs to be there the whole time\, you (the parents) do not. \nThis event is scheduled for Sunday\, January 22nd\, 2023 from 1pm-5pm at Taborspace – 5441 SE Belmont St\, Portland\, OR 97215 in the Dining Room (basement level). There is no cost for this activity. Snacks will be provided.  Please send your child(ren) with a water bottle(s). \nFor the kids: a 5 minute chat with each child will happen in and around the scheduled activities. We will pull them out as needed. Here is an overview of their session. \n\n1:00-1:15 – welcome and sign-in\n1:15-1:45 – name games and icebreakers\n1:45-2:45 – Activity 1 and games\n2:45-3:00 – snack break\n3:00-4:00 – Activity 2 and games\n4:00-4:30 – Junior Branch (JB) meeting\n4:30-5:00 – wrap-up and goodbye\n\nFor the parents: At least 1 parent per family must attend the 10 minute interview. We will be circulating a link for sign ups in January to all families who have applied for a program.
